Seems to me the Alerts "levels" are very important to trading. A complete understanding of them would help to properly use them and trading successfully. Joe, you talked about support and resistance in different time frames and clusters on your "trading chart" as stronger signals. Can you demonstrate proper placement and use?

I am looking at the 'Alert' and bit lost. Can someone please help me understand these columns
Action - Sell (understood)
current price - 1.2931 (do I take action at the current price?)
Entry price - 1.2976 (do I sell only when price reaches here?)
Stop Price - 1.3030 ( what is this - Is it a stop loss?)
Performance Record - here there is a 'suggested loss' - 1.2975
Question is - confused with the terminology - Please help
numbers given above are just an example

Hi,
i understood the Alerts (the reports, not the RSS) will be released on a daily basis / for each day the market is open to trade.
Is that correct?
At what time of day will they be released / send out / available on the website?
For the 1st week, unfortunately i haven't received any alert via Email.
They got posted on the website, but as far as i can see with a delay of one day.
So today (Friday) i found the Alert for yesterday (Thursday) on the website.
As the info contained in the alerts is only valid for the alert day - that's the way i understood it - i can only make use of the alerts to review the previous day.
Suggestion:
To avoid email issues, i suggest to publish the alerts on the website the same time they are send out by email.
If they are released always at the same time, we'd know when to look out for them.
Otherwise - perhaps we could get notified per RSS, if a new Alert / report is available on the website?
Regards,
Michael

Hi,
i'm not a native Englsih speaker, and i'm a novice Forex trader since a couple of month.
I couldn't attend the thursday evening / night webinar, and at the time i publish this post,
it is not uploaded to the website for replay yet.
I need some help to translate the info in the alerts into trade set-ups.
Example: OU Forex Alert Report Thursday March 12 , 2009
Pair: EUR/USD
Potential Trade Breakout of 1.2995 as pair is moving upward
Sell bounce at 1.2978 if resistance holds
...
Thursday Recommendation:
Buy Break of 1.2995 and sell bounce back at 1.2978… If pair breaks 1.3000 before London Session, and retreats, check GBP/USD to insure pair is moving in tandem (moving upwards) ...
Sell the pair at 1.2864 after London session opens. Yet, we will stay in oscillating mode until pair breaks out above 1.2978/1.2995 and closes session Friday above 1.3000…
xxx
Here's what i would understand:
The pair can either
a) go up over 1.2995 or
b) go down below 1.2978.
So in case of a)
the pair goes up over 1.2995 or 1.30 before London session at 9:00 GMT,
but retreats again, we need to look for additional confirmation of an upward move in the GBP/USD.
Does that mean we have to wait for the London session and this confirmation before we should make any decision to buy?
And if we get this confirmation and the pairs are up, then what?
How to enter the 3 orders according the Gravy Train-Method?
Market orders? Stop Loss? Buy Limit?
What i can't figure out is, what would be the proper entry price and stop loss.
The take profit could be then for the order 1 40 pips from entry price, for order 2 70 pips fro entry price and for order 2 we perhaps don't use a take profit at all ???
And in case of b)
the pair goes down below 1.2978 ...
How to enter the 3 orders according the Gravy Train-Method?
I understood we will do 3 sell stop orders with entry price at 1.2864 - but only after the London session has opened.
What i can't figure out here is, what would be the proper stop loss.
The take profit could be then for the order 1 40 pips from entry price, for order 2 70 pips fro entry price and for order 2 we perhaps don't use a take profit at all ???
Perhaps this example shows were i have problems to understand what the alerts are trying to tell me.
Hope somebody can help me understand ...
Suggestion:
The alerts would be a lot easier to understand for me, if there would be a scheme or a list with the possible / suggested trades and their entry, stop loss and take profit values, similar to the position manager perhaps (Why is the last column in the position manager labeled "Suggested Loss"? Is that refering to the stop loss for each trade?)
Regards,
Michael
P.S.: In addition, as the website is filling up with material (or at least links to material that still needs to be loaded), a sort of roadmap where to start and continue going through the training would come in handy too.
P.P.S.: Under Bias & Key Numbers - Core Training Materials -> only the link
- "Push the Button with Bias & Key numbers (Audio)"
works right now.

I am bit confused how the Position manager for GBP/USD shows profit when the recommendation was to 'Sell' - Should it have been 'buy' or am I missing something
I sold based on the recommendation (ofcourse in a practice mode) and lost on the trade

Okay
We have many questions in forum that have been addressed in webinars classes this week and in Q and A afterwards.
We are still challenged with ALL upgrades being posted on site.
My suggestion was for ALL students to review over weekend the past week classes as the final touches on upgrading website takes place.
When following the OU Alerts.
I posted two trades in position manager this week and both trades have been closed out with profit.
We had issues with code from program working with code from LIVE Forex feed to close trades at Breakeven +1
That has been addressed and being tested.
Once we have final clearance, I will form time to time post LIVE trades in position manager that will update each student instantly of that trade being executed.
This will help some confusion for new students.
We are also going to being having surveys to gauge your level of experience in FOREX markets. This will better prepare us to service you according to your knowledge to this point.
The best way to participate with OU Forex Alerts is to executed trades in practice account. Those accomplishing this task are learning how pairs operate in LIVE market conditions.
One post was well written and the person writing the post answered all their questions in the post.
Here is what is coming.
1. Quick Training Videos on how to use spreadsheets
2. Quick Training Videos on how to read the OU Alert Updates
and much more.
Or those wanting to move aster, Please start a journal and review ALL class webinars from this week and write down any and all questions you have after reviewing the material.
Some of your questions will be answered in the following webinar class. Thanks and welcome to the journey. We are still in week one and each week will be easier to those willing to learn how to generate
Pips in a $3 Trillion Dollar a Day market
Godspeed,
Joe
P.S. all members - Please put FULL name and currency pair that you stalk (example - EUR/USD) in every post, thanks

Last night during class we were given a link to sign up for SMS delivery of alerts. (I haven't seen anywhere that you can find this now, in case you missed it last night). So right after midnight I got two alerts on my cell phone. I immediately placed trades which quickly turned against me and I was taken out. Now today I got an email from Support that these were just TEST alerts and should be ignored. Doesn't seem too tough to tell us in advance that they are only TESTs until told otherwise. At least I'm not quite as concerned about using the information in the alerts now.

Hello Joe,
Is it possible to download the webinars from the site rather than just viewing only?
When I am logged in, The Position Manager only shows a blank screen. I was under the impression that this would be active where we can enter our trades on line, is that correct?

If that is so then you havent placed any trades from Fridays three buy/sell alerts.
Why is that Joe?

Hi Mike,
I've got to ask - where did you see the buy/sell alerts Friday?
The last RSS feed I got through OU Forex Reader was Wednesday the 18th (1 alert to Buy EURUSD). The last SMS alerts I got was also Wednesday, the 18th (3 that day). I have never gotten an alert by email.
I'm just wondering if we're all getting the same information.

Sorry Bill and Joe this was a false alarm or a false alert. The alert I received on Friday referred to a previous alert eg 18/3 buy eur/$ plus two others.
But Joe does the PM only track trades that you make? ie your last trade was 18/3 ?
Thanks

What is Bid/Ask Spread?
All Forex quotes include a two-way price, the bid and ask.
The bid is always lower than the ask price.
The bid is the price in which the dealer is willing to buy the base currency in exchange for the quote currency. This means the bid is the price at which you (as the trader) will sell.
The ask is the price at which the dealer will sell the base currency in exchange for the quote currency. This means the ask is the price at which you will buy.
The difference between the bid and the ask price is popularly known as the spread
The bid price in alerts is at end of 24 hour session or interval update going into next session.

Joe,
When you make your brief vids explaining your #'s I have a request :)
I like S/R levels and I have been taking your Channels (BO, Current Wide and Compressed Channel) and put the numbers on my chart (as horz lines)...What confuses me (a bit) is that I normally zoom out to the daily chart, draw my s/r lines based on recent history (then I go in to 15 min chart and do my thing)...so the recent numbers I would use is 1.3738/1.3415...which is your upper Current Wide # and lower Compressed # (imagine that, your numbers are everywhere :D )...but your upper compressed # 1.3527 is in the middle of the current move, so I was wondering if you could show on a chart/spreadsheet what your looking at? I understand about the higher levels, though I may not be looking at those higher numbers on a 15 min time frame...
Thanks!
ForexJoe
03-25-2009, 02:39 PM
Warren,
You may not see the breakout or wide channel on a 15 minute chart, UNLESS we are at top or bottom of channel...
The three channels are based on Monthly - Weekly and Daily numbers my friend.
Once you are at top of weekly or monthly channels, you have a chance for breakouts or trends to continue
or
Bounces and more pips due to wider channels, this allows the gravy train to prosper with room to run

I got my 1st alert today for the GBP/USD at around 5pm EST that said BUY. It didn't have anything else, so I put my 25-40-GT trades in. Now the trade seems to have stalled. Is this a possible entry at the bottom?

What were the rules followed that had you buy the GPBUSD today? Where you working off the 60 minute chart? Was it because the pair appeared to be stopped above resistance for two hours? Why then? Why not earlier or later?

I got in the GBP/USD trade about 6:15 pm - then I started thinking.... (big mistake to think after pushing the button, I know).......
If this alert was sent out at the beginning of the day and the trading enabled people who were in the trade to get PT 1 and PT2 - how do I know if it still in the uptrend and could possibly reach that 1.5361 goal? Is it all over at this point?
I'm kind of guessing no, or the trade would be closed out - and it's still open. Just making sure this is correct.
Also, I don't understand why it says buy at 1.4521 with a stop 1 pip above. Is this to account for your first take profit and moving the stop up? What should my stop be at if that hasn't happened for me? Thanks to whoever can help me! EUR/USD

Hi Carol,
I just checked my account after reading your response and I moved my stop loss to TP+1 or 1.4556 (slightly under 23.6%) . I'm going to practice leaving my Gravy Train and moving the stops to the next Fib line as it moves up.

I got in again after taking profit 1 & 2 for 2 more trades, shortly before receiving another alert to get in @ 1.4598 That's how you practice. Keeping your gravy train running and picking up extra pips with new trades. It reinforces a positive balance when you dip down during the run.
GOOD LUCK.

Henry,
Due to my massive amounts of time updating for ALL students, I have been limited in my LIVE trading. I took a break of lunch and reviewed the pairs and located the best possible trade before close of DOW
That was GBP/USD that took TP1 and TP2 before bouncing back later to take us out.
Henry, I follow the weekend and daily regimen using all the tools shared in class with students. Depending on what current market conditions show me when I'm in markets determines my moves in market.
Stay the course Henry and after a period of time, you will see what I know on currency pair that you stalk and it will become second nature or what I like to say,
you react to market actions once you train and trust your subconscious mind in creating new habits.
I scan markets and trades just appear art certain times and other times
like the YEN BUY at 97.78 we have to be patient for the move to happen.
We have been stalking that pair all week and it finally broke for TP1 and TP2
and going higher as new session begins.
Pretty Cool... Henry, were you patient enough to grab some of that YEN move?
Hope so, if not please practice daily all the Potential trades in Alerts

Yes, a lot of what you say sounds like art, not science or process to this engineer. However, when I learned Portugese, it felt a lot like art for a long time. To Whom It May Concern:
The spreadsheets have become timely and readily available of late. However, this weekend the later edition was not posted at all. I enjoy lanquishing over this plethora of information during the weekend, identifying the landmarks that of late I have been learning to use for the purpose of navigating the minefield of the real time Forex market.
Please be kind enough to post these spreadsheets at your earliest convenience, as without them I will not be able to continue my daily regimen.
Thank You for Your Effort in Our Behalf,

The spreadsheets are only being sent once on Friday as markets are closed

Greetings,
We are having issues on early report and since class is at 7 Pm central / 8 Pm eastern,
Will not have OU Forex Trader Daily Report posted until after class tonight.
Here is Trade recommendation for GBP/USD for tonight
Sell Break of 1.4705/1.4700 and clear 1.4665
More experienced traders can enter at 4729 knowing possible risk as this was key number from Sunday's report.
Sell dips on moves to near 1.4787 area or if pair breaks 1.4800 and retraces back below 4800 at 4790 is another sell entry.
end of report

My early posting for Tues. posted Monday is not correct. It appears to have old numbers and it does have old dates.
Will there be a new posting?

Howdy Darrell,
I understand from last nights class that we are to work with the late version due to technical difficuties. Joe said it should be corrected for today's report.

Hi Forex Joe,
I had a good day this monday following your report:
- LIVE/LIKE: 3 trades and winners (total of 206 pips)
- DEMO: 4 trades, 3 of them winners (total of 229 pips)
After a month a half, I'm getting more confident in following
your reports.
And, through practicing a lot of trades, I'm getting used
to the trade platforms.
Also, I set up my own Trade Plan Regimen on EURUSD
yesterday night and got TP1, TP2 and let Gravy run a bit
for a total of 123 pips.
Thank you.

At 11:15 am EST I received an alert to my cell phone.
Entry: EURUSD SELL - 1.3997.
I do not know if this was accurate. I did not receive any of the alerts to my cell phone for the recent entries to the position manager.
Also, when I checked the position manager for this trade I do not see it. I also, did not receive an alert to my computer for this trade, via RSS.
Did anyone else receive this notification on their cell phone?
Thank you,
Caren

I guess that answers my question.
Thanks,
